What is the difference between shared server and dedicated server?

Shared Hosting allows multiple users to be hosted on a single web server whereas Dedicated hosting, in its turn, is a single server solely devoted to a single user.

Shared Server hosting is an internet hosting  where many websites or applications reside on one  a single server.. This is generally the most economical option for hosting, as the overall cost of server maintenance is distributed over many customers. In Shared hosting you share a server and its resources  with different other customers .
